‚ÄčThere are four classicications of felonies in Iowa, ranging from Class D to Class A felonies.

Class B felonies are felonies punishable by an indeterminate prison sentence of 25 years. Some drug offenses, like manufacturing more than five grams of methamphetamine, are Class B felonies.

Murder in the second degree is a class B felony but the maximum prison sentence for someone convicted of murder in the second degree is fifty not twenty-five years. Moreover, it is a seven-tenths sentence, which means there is no parole for 35 years.
